Two (2) heats (top 16) will return to finals session in the 11 & 12 age group. Consolation and
Championship Finals will be swum in that order. 1000 free, 1650 free, 500 free and 400 IM are
timed final events.
 
FACILITY
Salem State College O'Keefe Center, 25 yard, 8 lane, 7 foot wide with non-turbulent lane lines,
Paragon starting blocks, Colorado electronic timing system with touch pads and eight line scoreboard.
Limited seating for 250 spectators and on deck bleacher seating for 300 swimmers and coaches.
 
SCRATCHES
A scratch box will be located on the pool deck for the 11-12 Events. Scratch deadlines for Friday,
Saturday and Sunday prelim events will be by 7:00 pm the night before. Scratches for Friday only
may be made by phone to the pool at (978)-542-6809 until 7:00 pm Thursday, February 19, 2004.
Thursday Evening events only will be a POSITIVE check-in by 5:00 pm at the timing table on deck.
 
Scratches for the 10 & U afternoon sessions must be turned in to the timing table 30 minutes before
the start of the session using the team scratch sheets provided.
 
 
SPECIAL SCRATCH NOTES (for 11-12 Swimmers)
1. Any swimmer who fails to compete in an individual event heat in which he/she is entered and has
not been scratched will be barred from further competition for that day, including relays and time
trials. The swimmer will be also automatically scratched from the following day’s events unless
the clerk of course has been notified of the swimmers intention to compete by 7:00pm.
NOTE: Finals are considered continuation of events starting with trials.
 
2. Any swimmer who competes in an individual heat and qualifies for Championship Finals or
Consolations and fails to notify the meet referee of his/her intention to withdraw from the finals
within 30 minutes of the announcement of the results and qualifiers for that event, and does not
compete nor is excused by the meet referee, will be barred from all subsequent competition in
the meet, including relays and time trials.
 
3. All relay events must confirm their intention to participate with a positive check-in.                                                                                                                                                               
 
RELAY CARDS
Must be submitted to the clerk of course by the beginning of the relay warm-ups or if there are no
relay warm-ups then by the conclusion of the last individual event. No changes to the composition
of the relay or order of the relay swimmers may be made after submission of relay cards to the clerk
of course, except for medical or other excuse approved by the meet referee.
 
ELIGIBILITY
All swimmers must be 2004 registered swimmers with New England Swimming. Swimmers may
register with Mary Riddell, 20 Cleveland Road, Needham, Ma 02492. Age eligibility is determined
by the age of the swimmer on February 19, 2004. All coaches on the deck must be registered with
US Swimming and display their coaches membership cards.
 
ENTRY INFORMATION
No swimmer may swim more than 9 individual events (11 –12 maximum of 3 events per day).
All relay swimmers must be listed on the official entry form. Relays are not limited but only 2 relays
per club can score. Entries must be received by Monday, February 16th by 5:00pm. E-mail entries
will be accepted and must be received by the original cutoff date and a check and hard copy received
by Wednesday, February 18th , 2003. . If mailing, United States Postal Service Overnight Mail method
 is to be used. Indicate that the package can be delivered even if no one is there to sign for it. No fax
entries will be accepted. All fees must accompany entry. If submitting entry on a disk a hard copy is
still required and must also accompany the disk. If you e-mail the entry a hard copy and check for
the appropriate fee must be received by the date listed above in order to be accepted.

Entry times must be achieved between February 15, 2003 and February 15, 2004. Times achieved in
a 25-meter pool must be multiplied by .9049 to convert to yards. Times achieved in a 50-meter pool
will be seeded after the 25-yard times.

VERIFICATION
All Entries must include verification codes. There will be a verification table at 12 & Under Age
Group Championships. At this meet teams must submit to the verification table a copy of their
meet entry with verification of all times indicated. Teams must also include a copy of any non-New
England calendar meet results used for entry times. Results will be reviewed by New England
Swimming. Any swimmer unable to verify entry time will be barred from the rest of the meet.
If several swimmers from one team are unable to verify entry times the swimmers and the coach
may be banned from the remainder of the meet.

RULES
2004 US Swimming rules will govern except as otherwise stated herein and the decision of the
referee will be final. Disabled swimmer forms are required by US Swimming and are available
from the NE Swimming office.
 
CONCESSION / VENDOR
A refreshment area will be on hand with many favorites at a reasonable cost. A swim vendor will also be on hand to take care of your swim needs.

ADMISSION AND PROGRAMS
Admission $1.00 per session, Programs $2.00 per Session.

OFFICIALS AND TIMERS
In accordance with standard NE Championship procedures, all teams entering the meet must provide
a prorated share of officials and timers and other required personnel. Work assignments will be
based on the number entries per team. Teams will be informed of their assignments prior to the meet.
Officials list per session must be included with entry hard copy in order for those individuals to be
included in team assignments. Referee is Paul Burkhardt and can be reached at paul.burkhardt@hp.com 
 
AWARDS
All swimmers will receive a commemorative pin from NE Swimming that may be picked up with the
coaches packet. Medals will be awarded for the first 8 places in individual events and first 3 places
in relays. Ribbons for 9-16 places individual and 4-8 relays. These awards will be presented
throughout the meet as time allows.
 
Plaques will be awarded to the individual high point winners for both boys and girls for the first eight
places for each age group. Awards will be given for combined 12 & U Team High Point places 1-8.
 
COACHES
All teams and individual warm-ups and warm downs shall be under the direct supervision of the
respective swimmers coach, or individual designated by the referee. Any swimmer participating
in the meet without a US Swimming coach shall report to the referee before warm-ups prior to each
session.
 
Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups with the exception of the sprint lanes when they’re
announced.
 
There will be no shaving at the meet including showers, pool deck, or bleachers.
 
Glass containers are prohibited in the pool area.
 
OTHER MEET NOTES
Coaches are expected to understand the scratch, verification and relay rules before the meet begins.
All coaches should check-in at the timing table on the pool deck upon arrival. Coach’s packets will be
available at the beginning of the warm-up session from the timing table.
Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their swimmers at all times. Any damage to the premises
or equipment is the responsibility of those doing the damage. Swimmers and spectators are restricted
to the pool, spectator areas and locker rooms. No smoking is permitted inside the facility. North Shore
Swim Club, NE Swimming and Salem State College will not assume responsibility for lost or stolen
articles.
 
Please do not ask to change entry times or event s after the entry deadline. No deck entries will be
accepted.
